Our mission is to embrace the pursuit of excellence both inside and outside the classroom. We encourage critical thinking and emphasize the learning process over rote memorization. At Sunflower Garden Montessori, we approach each child as an individual. Every child is unique and we believe that success and growth come from encouragement and praise. Our teacher focus is on building every child's self esteem and confidence through positive feedback and nurturing their natural strengths. A child sees the world around them with wonder and awe, and we believe in encouraging this natural curiosity. The original Sunflower Garden Montessori was a family daycare home located in Cary, NC. It was the first five star FCDH in Cary, and the first Montessori based FDCH in Wake County.

Jan Wren, lead Guide, is an American Montessori Society certified teacher. She has 40 plus years experience in the classroom. Jan's trainer studied under a trainer who taught with Maria Montessori. Jan's training was at college level and is currently associated with CalState/Hayward. Jan has her administration credentials, was a Middle/High School Science teacher for at risk students, and has her BS/MS in holistic nutrition. Jan is an amazing teacher who loves her work, and loves the students she works with.
